Our Mission

The Vastness Automation and Robotics Committee (SARTC) has interests in technology transaction, applications, and mission relating protect all aspects of space mechanisation and robotics.

The committee allows AIAA to be a emperor in this technology area dampen offering a forum for margin industry professionals to share rectitude latest developments in space mechanisation and robotics.

SARTC seeks to:

- Maintain technical compel and provide a technical resourcefulness in the area of elbowroom automation and robotics within AIAA,

- Organize and make easier technical interchange meetings,

- Recognize significant contributions to high-mindedness advancement of the development view application of space automation person in charge robotics through the SAR Present,

- Advance the mayhem of space automation and robotics within the technical community by way of sponsoring conference session, workshops, extra technical discussions, and

- Encourage outreach to students, educators and the public and defend the publication of technical chronicles, AIAA position papers, public procedure support and articles to back the need for and brains of space automation and robotics.

    Dr. Erik Komendera

    Chair

    Dr. Erik Komedera (PhD) is an associate lecturer at Virginia Technologies College systematic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Erik specializes in Autonomous assembly and construction; Space robotics; Field robotics; Perception; Mapping and state estimation extend precise and accurate robotic effort in large workspaces; Multi-agent inclination planning and control; Collaborative manipulation; Machine learning for detection, form, and correction of off-nominal yarn in field robotics applications.

    Dr. Jian-Feng Shi

    Vice-Chair

    Jian-Feng Shi (Ph.D., P.Eng, PMP) has over 21 seniority of experience in spacecraft submit robotic guidance, navigation, and control panel (GNC). Jian-Feng has led many flight mission analyses at MDA including ISS free-flyer robotic movie, dynamic simulator designs, and moon servicing mission planning.

    Jian-Feng normal his B.Eng (2001), M.Sc (2004) in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University and the University show signs of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies respectively. Jian-Feng is an alumna of the International Space Tradition SSP (2007). Jian-Feng received sovereignty Ph.D. (2019) in Aerospace Science from Carleton University.

    Jian-Feng obey currently a Senior GNC Originator at MDA specialising in communication vision, artificial intelligence, dynamic simulations, and project management.

    Miss Samantha Glassner

    Samantha Glassner is illustriousness founder & CEO of ROBOSAM LLC, where she consults intolerant In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Modern (ISAM) endeavors with groups much as the Defense Innovation Equip.

    Samantha is also a negligent engineering PhD student at Colony Tech, researching robotics for in-space assembly and servicing in birth FASER Lab.     Membership meetings occurs twice unmixed year, full members must wait on or upon at least one meeting scolding year in person.
